Tang is the inventor of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). He is a Distinguished Research Fellow in Research and Development with the Eastman Kodak Company. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia and Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Cornell University. Dr. Tang has won numerous prizes including the Innovation, Distinguished Inventor and Team Achievement Awards from Eastman Kodak, the Jan Rajchman Prize from the Society for Information Display and the Carothers Award from the American Chemical Society. Dr. C. W. Tang 是有机电致发光(OLED)的发明人，事实上他在有机电致发光和有机光伏器件(太阳能电池)领域都做出了杰出的和开创性的贡献，被称为“有机电致发光和有机光伏器件之父”，在国际上享有很高的声誉，他也被认为是未来最有实力竞争诺贝尔奖的著名科学家。
